Barry is an experienced policy and public affairs professional of Dublin, Ireland. Before he came to Australia in late 2008, Barry worked for the Labour Party, one of Ireland's largest political parties, for four years in several roles and later as a lobbyist for the country's largest employer representative body. He was hired as Senior Policy Officer by WACOSS in December, 2008, and spent 2009 working on matters aristing from the Social Housing Taskforce and housing policy in the State. Barry started work with CHCWA in early February, 2010. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics from University College Dublin and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Dublin City University.
Gerhard obtained a BA degree in Political Science and an Honours’ Degree in International Politics and Development Studies. He worked as a journalist before joining the Departments of Foreign Affairs in South Africa. After his training as diplomat he was posted to Germany. He was involved disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation for 11 years where he worked on policy formulation, drafting of legislation and compliance in the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry. He represented South Africa at various multilateral disarmament organisations. He served as a director in two NGOs rendering home-based care and developmental services to under resourced communities affected by chronic diseases.
Dannielle recently moved from the private sector where she worked as an administration officer for a team of legal practitioners. She is looking forward to the challenges and rewards of her role within CHCWA. She believes ‘that affordable, secure and appropriate housing for everyone is a right rather than a privilege.
Tony has a background in journalism and has edited several WA country newspapers as well as producing the Chittering Times newspaper. He also worked with the WA Bushfires Board and the Water and Rivers Commission for the Swan Catchment Council encouraging their volunteer groups to engage more pro-actively with media organisations.
Susan has a BA in Communications and Cultural Studies from Curtin University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism. She worked as a TESL teacher in Kansai Prefecture, Japan, and as an administration/communications assistant before joining CHCWA in 2012.
