Gary was previously senior journalist for the West Australian Regional publication’s the South Western Times and the Bunbury Herald and was based in Bunbury. Prior to this he spent several years working as a journalist with WA Business News after obtaining an Economics degree at the University of WA. In his role as journalist he developed a keen awareness of the issues faced in the housing sector such as housing affordability, homelessness and the challenges those seeking solutions, faced. Writing on welfare issues, it became apparent to Gary that not everyone was benefiting from the economic boom. Many people were not only missing out, they were also falling behind and struggling to keep up with the higher costs of living. Gary is now looking forward to a hands-on role representing the interests of the community housing groups that are keen to make a difference in the lives of the socially disadvantaged people in WA.
