INVITATION - The Department of Housing and Works is seeking applications from organisations to register under WA community housing regulation and to partner with the DHW to build community housing capacity in WA. The WA Government is investing $210m over four years in the State Community Housing Investment Program (SCHIP). In order to partner with the department and access future funding, organisations will need to be registered. Regulation is based on a tiered system of Growth, Preferred and Registered Providers and will be gradually rolled out with the first call for applications to prospective Growth Providers. Prospective registrants in this category will need to meet a set of eligibility criteria, including but not limited to:
- Be a not for profit company registered under the Corporation Act
- Be a registered Income Tax Exempt Charity, have or be working towards PBI and DGR status
- Be an established housing manager with a portfolio of 500 or more properties, or demonstrate a strong capacity and commitment to ongoing social housing growth
- Be willing to allocate housing to applicants from the public rental housing waiting list.
The DHW is seeking progressive, committed community housing providers to help the department realise substantial social housing growth into the future and would be pleased to provide further information on the regulation system and how to lodge an application for Growth Provider status.
