Best Practice Unit

As part of the Community Housing Coalition of WA the Best Practice Unit's goal is to improve the way community housing is provided to tenants. Best practice in community housing is the most efficient and effective means of service delivery to tenants and leads to the best possible outcomes for tenants and communities.

The BPU supports best practice in the sector through:

1. Sector Training

Policy or program changes which directly affect community housing provision, lead to professional development and training opportunities for the sector.

The unit provides a range of training for board members, volunteers and staff of community housing providers to ensure they fully understand their role and what is expected of them in running their organisation.

Details of the courses the BPU provides can be found under Training and Events.

2. Accredited training

The BPU has an ongoing role in ensuring the improved delivery and availability of accredited training options to the sector in WA and will continue to represent the community housing sector to those organisations that set educational priorities.

The BPU will continue to develop relationships with training providers to ensure curriculum material remains relevant to the needs of the community housing sector.

3. Resourcing the Sector

The Best Practice Unit has an ongoing role in resourcing the sector to help organisations work through the regulation process. As such we seek to be flexible to the training needs of our members and to provide support and information where required. In the Members Area you can find resources such as Policies and Procedures templates and the Rent Setting Spreadsheet which complement our training programs. Please do not hesitate to contact CHCWA if your organisation has an immediate training need.
