Homeless Persons Week Daily Update

August 10, 2012

Homeless Persons Week 2012 is almost over! Don’t forget to buy a coffee from the nearest Cafe Smart cafe. The YACWA photography exhibition also opens today in Wolf Lane  in the CBD, so be sure to check it out – it’s open to the public until August 18, from 11am to 5pm.

It’s the last day to get your donations in. Whether it’s socks, jocks, sleeping bags or toiletries they are desperately needed by the homeless of Perth. Check out the list of donation collection points to find one near to you!

The Walk to Support the Homeless is tomorrow. The weather will be fine and it’s not a long walk (click here to see the route) – no excuses! We meet at Wesley Church at 12 noon.

Capoeira to Walk for the Homeless

August 3, 2012

The Walk to Support the Homeless will be accompanied by the Capoeira group Cordao de Ouro this year.

Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which, depending who you ask, is a dance, a fight, a culture – or all three. Check out the CDO’s Youtube channel (http://www NULL.youtube NULL.com/user/ouricoCDO?feature=watch) to see for yourself.

The group will be providing a beat to walk to and hanging around afterwards to ‘play’ and hopefully get some people from the crowd involved. CHCWA is excited to have CDO on board for the Walk. It should be a good day!

This is the route we will walk for the Walk to Support the Homeless this year on Saturday, August 11,  2012.

The Walk to Support the Homeless is an annual event for Homeless Persons Week (August 6 – 12) which aims to raise awareness of homelessness and foster support within the community.

The route will differ from previous years because of construction works in Forrest Place. This year we will start and finish at Wesley Church on the corner of Hay and William Streets.
