It is my pleasure to announce that the 9th Affordable Housing Development & Investment Summit will be taking place on 26-28 February 2024, Melbourne.

For the second year running, CHIA is very pleased to put together a Summit designed to showcase the best ideas and solutions across social and affordable housing design, investment, place making, and tenancy/asset management.

The scale of Australia’s housing challenge is immense, and it is the lowest income households who are hardest hit. Analysis of the 2021 census by City Futures Research Centre, UNSW estimates that by 2041, almost one million Australian households will have unmet housing needs.*

Positively, the Commonwealth Government is seeking to introduce a raft of initiatives in response to this challenge. These include the Housing Australia Future Fund, the National Housing Accord and the development of a ten-year National Housing and Homelessness Plan.

In February 2024, you will have the chance to hear about the latest ideas to tackle Australia’s seemingly intractable housing problems.

To ensure you have VIP access to the full program, speaker lineup, and Early Bird pricing when the program is announced, register your interest here.

Specific topics we will tackle include how to incorporate affordable housing into market Build to Rent, designing excellent emergency accommodation for women experiencing DFV, models for institutional investment in social housing and making homes climate resilient.

There will also be invaluable opportunities for your staff to network and learn from the experiences of other housing, property, and finance organisations.

CHIA members will again receive a member discount rate throughout the onsale period. As with last year’s Summit, CHIA will also receive a donation from the event as part of the agreement with Aventedge. This donation will be used solely for its advocacy work in the sector.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Wendy Hayhurst
