A photographic celebration featuring Bridge Housing’s Elders for NAIDOC Week.

[Sydney, 26 June 2023] – FINDING HOME, an evocative photographic exhibition celebrating the 2023 NAIDOC Week theme “For Our Elders”, will open at Project 107 Redfern gallery on Wednesday, 28 June 2023.

The voices of nine Elders from the Bridge Housing community, seen through the lens of human rights photographer Belinda Mason OAM, highlight the importance of Finding Home, a poignant reminder as Australia’s housing crisis continues to grip lives and futures.

‘Home is central to Bridge Housing’s mission; to provide more housing and quality services to those in need. FINDING HOME represents our deep respect for our Elders and their invaluable contributions to the community.’ stated Bridge Housing’s CEO Rebecca Pinkstone.

‘We have been fortunate to walk alongside and learn from Bridge Housing’s Elders who share our vision for a society where everyone has a safe, secure and affordable home. Through the power of their words and Belinda Mason’s images, this exhibition shares their history and their experience of the importance of home. Holding the exhibition in Redfern, the heartland of the urban Aboriginal community and the location of many of our Elders’ stories, adds another rich layer of meaning to FINDING HOME.” Ms Rebecca Pinkstone noted.

FINDING HOME will drape the walls of Project 107 Redfern from 28 June to 8 July 2023. Admission is free, and the gallery is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm.

Join us in celebrating NAIDOC Week and the remarkable Elders of the Bridge Housing community at the FINDING HOME exhibition. Let’s acknowledge, respect, and honour their invaluable contributions to society.
