About Us

Established in 2014 by community housing industry leaders in Queensland, CHIA QLD is the independent industry body representing community housing providers (CHPs) in Queensland (large, medium and small). Our vision is that Queensland’s community housing industry leads the way in meeting housing need in communities that support life opportunities.

As a forward looking advocate, our job is to engage in robust state and national policy and debate and to promote the interests, expertise and value-add of CHPs in Queensland. Our strategic plan 2018 – 2021 includes four goals:

  1. Reform existing social and affordable housing model
  2. Identify and advocate emerging opportunities, new products and service
  3. Advocate well planned urban and regional planning
  4. Ensure organisational and financial viability.

In 2017, our members voted unanimously to become the Queensland Branch of CHIA, a position we are proud to hold. Since then, our capacity to positively influence housing policy and debate has increased significantly and in 2019 we have been engaged by the Queensland Government’s Department of Housing and Public Works (DHPW) to deliver a significant consultation with CHPs over key legal, financial and development elements of the Department’s Partnering for Growth with the community housing sector Initiative.

Our Members

CHIA QLD’s members include tier 1, 2 and 3 NRSCH community housing providers (CHPs) across Queensland’s urban and regional communities.

CHIA QLD also welcomes participation from associates, industry professionals, sponsors and partners, and other organisations that support the goals of the community housing sector. Collectively, we work to ensure a strong, robust and sustainable future for community housing and better housing options for Queenslanders from all walks of life.
